Opting In and Out Overview

Using your handset, you can subscribe (opt in) to ESCC Alert, or cancel (opt out) the subscription.

Upon sending ESCC to 411911, you will receive instructions.

After completion of registration you will be assigned a user ID and system-generated password that you will use to login at alert.es.edu. After logging on to the web site, change the password to a more memorable one and select your alert preferences (e.g., neighborhoods, schools, alert types, etc.).

Requesting Help

Follow these instructions to request information on how to unsubscribe, cost of the program, etc.

1. Text 'ESCC HELP' to 411911
2. System replies: Emergency Alerts. To cancel reply STOP. Questions, please contact the helpdesk at 757-789-1789 or via e-mail at ithelpdesk@es.vccs.edu.

Subscribing (opting in) with a Handset

Follow these instructions to subscribe to ESCC Alert using your handset.

1. Text 'ESCC' to 411911
2. System replies: Alerts will be sent in emergencies: reply Y to confirm. Std SMS and other rates may apply. This is a service of ESCC Alert.
3. After your confirmation
4. System replies: Registered. Complete sign up at http://alert.es.edu. Use e-mail provided to login. Text STOP or HELP for more info.

Canceling a Subscription (opting out) with a Handset

Follow these instructions to cancel a subscription to ESCC Alert using your handset.

1. Text 'ESCC STOP' to 411911
2. You can replace STOP with one of the following:
   • CANCEL
   • END
   • QUIT
   • UNSUBSCRIBE
3. System replies: Unregistered. You will no longer receive messages from ESCC Alert. To re-register, text ESCC to 411911. Questions, please contact the helpdesk at 757-789-1789 or via e-mail at ithelpdesk@es.vccs.edu.
